Physician's Information

Physicians,

When a patient presents with chest discomfort, shortness of breath or fatigue, you are faced with a dilemma: Can you manage the case or is a referral necessary? Usually, the information available to you is chiefly subjective, making your decision a difficult one.

Now you can obtain accurate diagnostic data from a cardio-pulmonary metabolic stress test conducted in your office without purchasing equipment or adding staff. Our Local AccuMed Provider will set up mobile equipment in one of your exam rooms, and provide technicians to administer the test. Results are available immediately, with a computerized over-read faxed to you within two business days. Further professional input is available upon request.

AccuMed of South Louisiana's testing methodology has been proven to yield highly accurate, dependable results. In addition to standard 12-lead EKG tracings, data collected include functional capacity (METS of work), anaerobic threshold, respiratory rate minute ventilation, Heart rate, blood pressure, and O2/pulse. Thus, patients can be identified as having cardiac &/or pulmonary disease or a less severe condition that does not require an extensive and costly work-up.

The patient's insurance company pays for both your professional fee and AccuMed's service fee. There is no cost to you or your practice.

Of course, safety is a top priority. With AccuMed you are assured that all precautions are taken, and should complications occur, the appropriate equipment is available.

For Medical expertise, AccuMed is privileged to have Dr. Christopher Cooper, director of the Exercise Physiology Laboratory at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Cooper serves as the medical director for the Viasys over-read center which analyzes Accumed's CMET and PFT data.
