System Overview
The MasterScreen Diffusion is the complete system for recording pulmonary diffusion capacity and simultaneous determination of alveolar volume and pulmonary volumes. The gas mixture consists of helium and carbon monoxide.
- Unit for measuring diffusion capacity and lung volume including quick and precise He and CO analyzers. The unit is assembled on an adjustable support arm.
- Computer (Pentium computer), printer and monitor on an ergonomic, smoothly-running trolley.

Designed to meet every requirement
MasterScreen Diffusion is a powerful diffusion measuring system that can grow with your requirements and can be expanded up to a versatile lung function and ergospirometry system. With the MasterScreen family you are free to add whatever option whenever you want. If you have so far been of the opinion that diffusion measurements are too expensive, the compact and favorably-priced MasterScreen Diffusion will quickly reverse your view. The standard version allows you to perform the classic Single Breath Diffusion measurement, which becomes more and more important for pulmonary function testing - not only due to the recent ATS and ERS recommendations. MasterScreen Diffusion quickly and efficiently measures Diffusion Capacity via the Single Breath Diffusion method. In addition to the Transfer Factor further static lung volumes, such as FRC, RV and TLC are determined in the same maneuver by gas dilution. Diffusion measurements can be used effectively whenever diffusion is suspected to be impaired, i.e. mainly in patients suffering from pulmonary fibrosis or pulmonary emphysema. Indication of therapy, trend and assessment play a decisive role. To broaden your diagnostic spectrum, the system can be equipped with a Bodyplethysmography option and/or a CPX option.
Easy without compromises
Although in principle very complex, the Single Breath Diffusion measurement can be easily and quickly performed thanks to the powerful LAB software, which needs almost no preparation time. What if your patient's cooperation was poor? As a gas mixture has to be inhaled with every measurement, the test cannot be repeated as often as desired. However, even for this problem MasterScreen Diffusion offers a solution: The training mode: Just start a training sequence which simulates a measurement. The only difference is that the patient inhales ambient air instead of the gas mixture. In this way, the patient can be perfectly trained and prepared for the actual measurement. And if, nevertheless, several measurements are required, 'bad' trials can be deactivated via a mouse click, i.e. they will not be included in the calculation.
